.Com? .Net? or
.Org? Getting a domain name is inexpensive and relatively easy. (The hard part is finding one that isn't already taken.) All domain names that end with .com, .org or .net must be registered through InterNIC (www.internic.net/). Your name for a U.S. business should end in .com or possibly .net depending on your type of service you provide. If you are a nonprofit organization, your domain should end with .org. To find out if your desired domain name is available, visit Network Solutions service at: www.networksolutions.com By following the instructions on the page, you can check to see if your desired name is available. |
Picking the name? Don't be surprised if your first choice is already taken. There are only so many words in the language. Remember, domains can contain only letters, numbers and a hyphen; other punctuations (including spaces) is not allowed. In addition, domain names can only be a maximum of 67 letters-and after the period and three letters for .com .net or .org, that leaves only 63 letters. You'll have to be creative about this. Good luck! Domain Costs |
